Seve’s ‘The Shire London’ is selling fast

12.15am 5th October 2006 - Course Development

The new 27-hole Seve Ballesteros designed golf club, The Shire London, doesn’t officially open for membership sales until 1st November – but over 750 golfers have already applied for details.
The spectacular complex, near Barnet in north London, opens for play in May 2007, and will shortly start to allocate 300 specially-priced full memberships on a first-come, first-served basis. It is Seve Ballesteros‘ first full design in the UK.
“Golfers will be delighted by how mature the golf course is when we open” said owner Tony Menai Davis, “and we will be rewarding early members for their loyalty. The early interest shown by so many golfers is really spurring our team to even greater heights. Everyone who visits us can immediately see how The Shire London has the potential to become one of England’s great golf courses.”
Golfers pay £750 to join, plus an annual membership fee of £1,250 (£1,500 including gym and pool membership). Corporate memberships are £5,000 per year, plus a £2,500 joining fee, for four people. Corporate members can play in club competitions and will receive 10% off company golf days and guest green fees.
“We are priced very aggressively” said Menai Davis. “The Shire London is immaculate quality and a fabulous Seve design, but it will not be priced beyond the reach of regular golfers in the area. Green fees will be £40 midweek and peak at £60 at weekends.”
