Royal Porthcawl to host Open Qualifying while Burnham & Berrow recovers from impact of drought

Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Wales will host Final Qualifying for The 151st Open Championship on July 4 in place of Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.

Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Wales has been asked to host Final Qualifying for The 151st Open Championship on July 4 in place of Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.

Burnham & Berrow has been temporarily dropped from the list of host venues In order to allow the course to fully recover from the impact of last year’s drought. Final Qualifying has been switched to Royal Porthcawl for this year only and will revert back to Burnham & Berrow in 2024.

Royal Porthcawl is hosting the Senior Open presented by Rolex this year and the Welsh venue is renowned as one of the world’s finest links courses.

It joins the other Final Qualifying venues for this year at Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire.
