European Golf Design are to design a new golf Practice Academy at the Cascade Resort on the Algarve, Portugal.
Situated in the Western Algarve, five minutes from the town of Lagos, Cascade Performance Sports Academies is located in a unique position on the cliffs overlooking the beaches of Ponta da Piedade and Porto de Mós.
Cascade Performance Academy will consist of a Golf Practice Range complete with practice putting green and chipping area. Alongside the golf facilities will be a Stefan Edberg Tennis Academy with 4 hard surface courts and a Sven-Goran Eriksson Football Academy which will have two full sized and two half size grass pitches. The facilities will provide exclusive professional training facilities for golfers, footballers and tennis players.
As well as the Performance Sports Academy, the resort will have luxury 4-bedroom villas; 8 townhouses and 58 luxury 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. A 5 star 85 room hotel will open in June of this year.
Construction on the Golf Practice Range is to commence in April and the 100 million Euro development is due to officially open in November of this year.
At the official launch in the Algarve last week Sven-Goran Eriksson and Stefan Edberg met up with European Golf Design’s Designer Gary Johnston and Director Michael King. Gary Johnston said, “We are very pleased to be involved with this development and are fortunate to have such a wonderful and picturesque piece of land on which to create the practice academy.”
Although the resort is aimed at the foreign tourist market it is hoped that the development will also provide a valuable resource for the local area as well as creating over 100 jobs.
