Luštica Development AD, a joint venture between Swiss-based Orascom Development Holding and the government of Montenegro, has announced that Gary Player, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and the most prolific globetrotting golfer in the history of the sport, has been selected to design Luštica Bay Golf Course in Tivat, Montenegro. Minister for Sustainable Development and Tourism Predrag Sekulić, Mayor of Tivat Miodrag Kankaraš, Managing Director of Luštica Development Samuel Meyer and President of Gary Player Design Scott Ferrell addressed media representatives at a press conference last week.

“I am delighted to be working in Montenegro and with such an esteemed company as Orascom”, said Gary Player. “The site there is absolutely stunning, surrounded by water and mountain views. I look forward to establishing a championship layout, with a keen eye toward environmental sensitivity, for all to enjoy.”

Over three decades, Gary Player Design has been a global leader in golf course design, marketing and real estate planning services. Through the years, Gary Player and Gary Player Design have executed a portfolio of over 300 projects in 35 countries on five continents. In creating unique and breathtaking golf courses the company and its founder have a full respect for the environment. Gary Player Design takes great care with regard to moving a minimal amount of earth, protecting wildlife and existing ecosystems, remediating and/or adding indigenous plant material and adhering to established local environmental guidelines.

The opening of the practice facility, which features a driving range, putting green and restaurant, is another added value to the development and an opportunity for everyone to experience the lifestyle in this burgeoning resort town. The driving range and restaurant will operate everyday from 09:00 AM to sunset and an experienced golf professional will be available all season for golfer’s interested in improving their game. Private lessons are €20 for 30 minutes or €30 for 50 minutes.

“Since this is the first golf course in Montenegro, it is especially important to expose the sport to the local youth through lessons and friendly competitions,” says Managing Director of Luštica Development Samuel Meyer. “We would very much like to see the future generations of Montenegrins actively engaged in golf and maybe even get some serious contenders within the international golf community from this region.”

Furthermore, the Government of Montenegro, Municipality of Tivat and Lustica Development AD are about to agree on an Effective Date for their Lease and Development Agreement for July 2012, signalling a very significant milestone for the project as the developers are bound to deliver their minimum build and investment obligations within four years.

“We are delighted with the preliminary acceptance of our products and have signed reservations and sales contracts,” said Meyer. “Also, we have built a model apartment and viewing platforms for our customers on the future locations of the marina, main road, and golf hotel. We are in constant communication with our customer base to perfect the product, unit designs and overall architecture”.

Luštica Bay’s master plan is currently being developed into building permits and being implemented by only the most qualified teams. Lustica Development AD is also working on all the marketing material and negotiating with several internationally known hotel operators.

With a top-notch championship golf course, world-class marinas, five-star hotels, gourmet dining, exceptional nightlife and entertainment,LušticaBaywill have everything seasoned travelers have come to expect fromEurope’s finest resort towns.
