Penrith Golf Hub has enhanced its putting coaching and fitting proposition with the appointment of putting specialist Nick Sharples to it coaching team.
Sharples is now providing customers with one-on-one putting coaching and putter fitting from the facility’s fitting hub.
Sharples’s extensive experience will enable him to work with club handicap golfers right up to tour professionals, as well as providing customers with bespoke putters as opposed to those bought ‘off the rack’.
For the past five years, Sharples has worked as a product specialist for Titleist as a Scotty Cameron fitting specialist. As well as managing the Scotty Cameron brand for the UK and Ireland, he managed key accounts, putter fittings, and worked on the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour. He also worked with Scotty Cameron himself at his design studio in California, and was presented with the opportunity to work with the Titleist national fitting centre.
Sharples also recently worked as a Head Professional at a 27-hole golf course in Vietnam, and prior to this, completed his PGA training and exams at the University of Birmingham.
“Nick’s service at Penrith Golf Hub is going to be hugely significant and we are delighted to welcome such an expert here,” says Penrith’s Director, PGA Professional Lee Edwards. “Putting is an area that is massively overlooked by golfers, and with Nick now on-site, we will be able to offer our customers a greater understanding of how important putting is, and the fundamentals, to see more consistency in this element of the game.”
Sharples said: “I’m delighted to be able to join the team at Penrith Golf Hub and am excited to be part of an establishment that is forward-looking and pioneering. Most importantly, I look forward to helping Penrith’s customers improve their skills and enjoyment of this important aspect of their game,” says Nick.
Penrith Golf Hub was bought by PGA Professionals Lee Edwards and Andrew Pickering as well as John and Emily Ingham in 2019. Over the last three years it has been transformed into a nine-hole golf course and 14-bay driving range.
