New resort for south east Spain

The official opening of Hacienda del àlamo will take place next Saturday, 9th April. The new state-of-the-art golf resort, which is being built in Fuente àlamo,in the region of Murcia, aims to be one of the most important golf resorts in the south east of Spain and one of the largest in Europe.
Hacienda del àlamo has built, in its first phase, an eighteen hole championship golf course, designed by Dave Thomas, recognised as one of the world’s best golf course architects. The course measures 7,300 yards (6,724 metres), the longest golf course in Spain and one of the longest in Europe. Its main highlights are the 8 lakes, 84 bunkers and 650 to 800 m2 greens.
The golf course has also a golf academy, with a driving range, nine practice holes and a short game area. To these facilities will be added a club house, two 5 star hotels, a spa, a sports area and a second golf course
The resort will have a total of 550 hectares with approximately 3,500 homes whose construction is divided into phases. The first phase includes 200 homes, which are already finished and delivered. Another 250 homes will be handed over between June and September 2005.
The project, which involves an investment of 900 million euros, is led by ARMILAR PROCAM, which is the merger of ARMILAR S.L. and PROCAM S.L., two property development companies in Spain. The latter belongs to the bank group Caixa Catalunya.
