New 9 holes for Chateau des Vigiers

12.10am 26th July 2006 - Course Development

Donald Steel and Brian D Pierson have been commissioned to design and build the third nine hole course at Ch®teau des Vigiers in the Dordogne.
The original and much acclaimed 18 hole course was designed by Donald Steel and constructed by Brian Pierson in 1990. The routing is centred upon the 16th century Ch®teau with the 9th and 18th holes finishing off in front of the Ch®teau and many of the other undulating greens offering different perspectives of the striking building.
The course is maintained with short rough promoting quick play and accessibility for higher handicaps. The greens are frequently lightning fast, however, and prove a test for any golfer. With strategic pin positions and longer rough, the course can be turned into a challenge for the best golfer.
The new course plays from the vineyards into a spectacular valley with the third green nestling into a pictorial, six meter high natural rock face.
The new nine will be in play by the spring of 2008 to coincide with the opening of the new conference centre and 42 additional bedrooms.
