Marriott’s second resort in Spain

10.00am 29th April 2003 - Course Development

Marriott International, Inc. has opened the Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort & Spa. This resort is the company’s second full-service resort in Spain and is owned by Pepe Bano, a local businessman.

Located on the Gulf of Valencia coast amidst orange groves, the 186-room Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort & Spa is situated in the residential area of La Sella near Denia. The resort is a one-hour drive from the international airports of Valencia in the north and Alicante to the south, and a four-hour drive from both Barcelona and Madrid. Marriott Vacation Club International, the company’s vacation ownership division, also offers 166 apartments at the resort, which allows owners to share in the same amenities and activities as hotel guests.

The resort offers an 18-hole golf course at the base of Montgo Mountain with plans to add nine more holes. Golfers can also choose from 15 public golf courses within a two-hour drive.

The hotel has a 1,200-square-metre spa, designed by Alan Wheway, the founder of Champney’s Health Club in England.

Marriott International (NYSE:MAR) is a leading worldwide hospitality company with nearly 2,600 lodging properties in the United States and 66 other countries and territories. The company has approximately 129,000 employees and, in fiscal year 2002, reported system-wide sales of $19 billion.
