Leadhills Golf Club in South Lanarkshire, which boasts Scotland’s highest golf course, has been awarded a grant of £48,768 from Greencoat Capital Andershaw Windfarm, a contributor to the Renewable Energy Fund.

The money will help the club to build a new clubhouse and gym, which it hopes will become a community asset to the village of Leadhills. In addition to this, the club will use the funds to buy new machinery, including two ride-on mowers, a walk-behind mower and a trailer to transport tools and equipment.

The new equipment will help the volunteers to maintain the golf course and attract visitors and societies alike to the area, benefiting club as well as local businesses.

The grant from the Renewable Energy Fund (REF) is 50% of the total project costs, with Clyde Wind Farm approving the remaining 50% to allow the project to go ahead.
