A £250,000 programme to enhance practice facilities and offer ‘millionaire’s golf’ for its members has begun at The Golf Academy at Stapleford Park, near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, which hosted two Senior Tour events – ISPS Handa Senior Masters European Senior Tour Championship – in 2010 and 2011..

Two high-tech Full Swing simulators are due to be installed next to the existing golf range and practice green while a whole new membership structure has been put in place.

Academy Golf membership will allow golfers to enjoy unlimited use of the golf course and the bar, restaurant and changing facilities for £750 a year, with a £200 joining fee being waived for the first 100 new members to take up the offer.

Stapleford Park’s PGA professional Rich Alderson said: “This is truly millionaire’s golf for just £750 on a course that has hosted two tournaments on the European Senior Tour.

“It’s rare that you see a queue of matches waiting to go on our first tee and with the enhancements being planned for the practice areas, you just can’t go wrong.

“And if you join now you will effectively get free golf for the remainder of February and the whole of March. The Pavilion also now opens from 8am for breakfast,” he added.

The investment programme aims to put The Golf Academy on a par with the top golf teaching establishments in the Midlands and even nationally with two new state-of-the-art simulators ready to be installed.

Each new Academy Golf membership includes a free one-hour lesson with Rich and unlimited use of the course and the facilities in The Pavilion, the impressive thatched clubhouse which has an upstairs bar and restaurant overlooking the 18th green.

For the less dedicated player or those who simply don’t have enough time, the club also offers a year’s standard Academy membership for £200 or £100 if you join between October 1st and March 31st, which also includes a free lesson and six rounds of golf. Both memberships include a 10 per cent reduction on food and drink prices in The Pavilion.

And for people who want to enjoy the full Stapleford Park experience, with its luxury hotel, spa, gym, swimming pool and access to the Tree Cottage Nursery, full Country Club membership is available at £1,320 per person. For more information, telephone 01572 787044.
