Hampshire-based Huxley Golf, the PGA’s official supplier for all-weather golf surfaces, has played a major role in launching the very first golf course in the country of Georgia.

The Eastern European country is not one traditionally associated with golf, but a new ‘pitch and putt’ academy course at the Ambasadori Golf Resort in Kachreti means the game can now be played in Georgia for the first time ever.

The three-hole, par-three course combines natural grass fairways with Huxley Golf’s tournament-quality, all-weather surfaces. Each hole has been fitted with a bespoke Huxley Premier All-Weather Golf Green, complete with surrounding fringe areas measuring up to sixteen feet (five metres) wide. Huxley Golf’s PGA-standard all-weather greens will significantly reduce maintenance requirements whilst providing completely realistic ball roll, reception and speed.  Golfers will also begin each hole from a tee box fitted with Huxley Golf’s high-quality, durable, all-weather tee turf.

The three-hole course is complemented by a separate Huxley Golf All-Weather Practice Putting Green, also with surrounding fringe area, perfect for golfers looking to work on their chipping and putting. The resort will also be expanded to include a nine-hole course in the near future.

The consultation and installation of the course was led by Huxley Golf Russia and Ostap Lukiyanov, Co-Owner & Director, said: “It’s fantastic to see the finished course and how it will contribute to introducing and developing the game of golf in Georgia. Huxley Golf’s durable, all-weather surfaces offered the perfect solution to the course’s tee and putting areas, combining unparalleled realism with exceptionally low-maintenance requirements. This installation builds on our successful projects across Russia and continues to introduce Huxley Golf facilities across the region.”

Paul Huxley, Director of Huxley Golf, said: “It’s excellent news that Georgia has its first golf course and I’m delighted that Huxley Golf could play a major role in helping to make this happen. Spreading the game of golf globally is something that is important for the future of the game and I hope that Huxley Golf’s world-class facilities will continue to contribute to the development of golf in Georgia and beyond.”

Huxley Golf provides premier all-weather surfaces for golf around the world. Clients include training and coaching establishments, golf resorts, ranges and academies, as well as many well-known golfers and golf courses, including several Open Championship and Ryder Cup venues.
