The 2014 golf season is set to be the most significant yet for Poland’s top golf resort, according to the team at Modry Las Golf Club. Celebrating its fifth anniversary in July, the acclaimed Gary Player-designed course will be joined by a new nine-hole course in the autumn, more accommodation and the first glimpse of the property offering at the resort.

This latest tranche of work is the next step in a meteoric rise following the opening of the course in 2009. Since then, Poland’s only signature course has won a series of national and international awards and gained recognition from across the globe.

“The first five years at Modry Las have been exceptional,” said Pamela Gromadzki, the resort’s International Marketing Director. “We set out to create one of Europe’s most natural courses and welcome visitors from across the world, and that is what we have done. Now we are creating world-class facilities to go with it. As birthday celebrations go; it should be one to remember.”

Perhaps the most significant development will be the completion of the nine-hole Orli Las course to be officially opened in 2015. This championship course in miniature has been routed through a peninsula with a lake-side forest which provides incredible views towards infinity greens.

According to Gromadzki, the course has been designed to provide golfers of all abilities with a real golfing test. “Visitors to Modry Las should be under no illusions; Orli Las is far from being a pitch-and-putt course,” she explained. “Orli Las has been created so that learners and advanced golfers can play together with each enjoying the challenge for different reasons. More importantly, it is a wonderful course which is big on challenge and easily fits with your schedule – you can play a round in less than an hour.”

With over-hanging trees and dramatic lake views, this clever, compact design is due for a soft opening later in the year. To accompany the launch, the resort will also have new accommodation options with the resort’s three Swiss-style self-catering cottages being joined by six guest suites.

Like the cottages, the suites have been designed with golfers in mind with spacious, comfortable rooms situated adjacent to the course. “It has always been important for our guests to have a place to sit, relax and enjoy Modry Las,” noted Gromadzki. “We introduced the cottages last year and they proved so popular that we decided to expand our accommodation offering by introducing our guest suites.”

In addition, 2014 will also provide a foretaste of the property vision for Modry Las in the form of a two-bedroom, eco-friendly show home. With 150 plots for sale and 10% already taken, this unique property scheme is already attracting attention from possible buyers. “The property element was part of the original master plan and an important element of the vision for Modry Las,” said Gromadzki. “Modry Las will become a unique leisure community in Poland.”

The busy year ahead follows a momentous 2013 for Modry Las which saw a number of milestones reached. These included the opening of the course-side cottages and the Peter Bronson Golf Academy run by Poland’s top golf pro. There was also new collaborations with local schools, the introduction of free golf lessons for children and a programme of promotional activities that culminated in two oversubscribed press/FAM visits and new photography created by award-winning photographer Mark Alexander.

“It was a busy year,” said Gromadzki. “There was a lot going on and a lot to be proud of, but this year is set to be the busiest yet. I am particularly excited about the new properties, but what will grab everyone’s attention is Orli Las. It really is a jewel.”
