Owner of Formby Hall Golf Club, the Maghull Group, has unveiled images revealing how the club will look once its current £10 million re-development is complete.
Earlier this year, Sefton Council’s Planning Committee approved the Maghull Group’s plans to develop the UK’s first PGA affiliated National Residential Golf Academy within the exclusive Formby Hall Golf and Country Club.
The centre of excellence at Formby Hall Golf Club will be the only PGA branded National Residential Golf Academy in the UK when it opens towards the end of 2007. The new academy is set to launch ahead of the Open Golf Championships being held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club, just along the coast.
As part of the redevelopment of Formby Hall Golf Club, a new nine hole par 3 golf course is being constructed in addition to the existing 18 hole championship course. The development will also comprise a 62 bedroom luxury golf residence, spa, swimming pool and fitness centre and also a golf science academy for group and individual tutorials with recognised golf professionals.
The existing bars and restaurants are being completely refurbished to have a more contemporary design. The function room at the clubhouse, which is currently used for weddings, conferences and corporate events, is also set to be transformed into one of the region’s most stylish venues.

Maghull Developments, also part of the Maghull Group, will carry out the redevelopment project.
Formby Hall Golf Club was established almost nine years ago and is situated on Southport Old Road, Formby, Merseyside and has excellent rail, road and airport links.
