Fazio to design first Dubai course at Discovery Dunes

12.31pm 12th January 2024 - Course Development

Tom Fazio is to design his first golf course in the UAE at Discovery Dunes, a new 2km square private property and leisure estate located in Dubai South that is being billed as largest single, urban masterplan development in the country.

Owned by Discovery Land Company – whose diverse portfolio of international properties includes the CostaTerra development in Portugal, which boasts the Fazio-designed Terras da Comporta golf course – Discovery Dunes, when complete, will feature mansions, villas, an 18-hole golf course, as well as other leisure amenities including a wellness centre, equestrian centre, an adventure park and kid’s club.

Details on the routing or style of course have yet to be released, but all property owners at Discovery Dunes will be offered free lifetime membership of the golf club, as well as access to Discovery Downtown, a private city club which will connect the main club community to Dubai’s vibrant downtown life.

Discovery Land is now starting to build out the golf course, clubhouse, wellness centre and spa, and a farm to grow vegetables. Empty lots are being offered from $6 million to $25 million, with 340 plots for houses and apartments available. Several mid-rise apartment buildings will be built near the clubhouse. Homes will be sold at a cost of about $700 to $1,200 per square foot, and buyers can choose from Discovery Land’s designs or get their own approved.

Dubai South was launched as a Dubai Government project in 2006, representing an emerging 145 square-kilometre, master-planned city. The city offers business-friendly free-zone benefits and a living environment with a diverse range of mixed-use and residential communities to suit different lifestyles.
