Ballesteros at Quinta do Vale

The Resort’s opening ceremony was attended by Severiano Ballesteros, who was responsible for the design and construction of this 18 hole golf course in the Algarve.

The official presentation of Quinta do Vale Golf Resort, Algarve’s future golf resort, took place on 26th October at the Castro Marim’s facilities – Monte Francisco.
This ceremony was attended by the renowned Severiano Ballesteros, the man responsible for the design and construction of the 18 hole golf course (par 72), which, in the words of the promoters, “promises to amaze and impose itself as one of the best in the Iberian Peninsula.”
Blessed with unique scenery by the edge of the Guadiana River, the Quinta do Vale golf course spreads across 75 hectares and merges with the surrounding natural background, taking advantage of the terrain. This is a course that Severiano Ballesteros sees as “a challenge”, mainly due to the constant presence of water.
Located in Castro Marim, one of the Algarve districts where golf related tourism is on the increase, this project also includes a five star hotel, a village and a set of luxury residences.
Close to the border with Spain, the site has a unique location which allows the visitor to enjoy the best culture, gastronomy and beaches that both countries have to offer.
The project is promoted by the Spanish company Quinta do Vale S.A, known in Portugal as Golfe e Urbanizaà§àµes Vale do Odiana – Sucursal, responsible for the development of the project in the country. The predicted investment for Quinta do Vale Golf Resort is approximately €91 million and the objective is to make this a symbol of quality tourism in the Algarve, which is available 12 months a year.
Besides golf, there are also projects to develop sports such as horse riding, hunting and many nautical activities, with plans for a marina in the Guadiana River – possible since the area includes one kilometre of shore line.
Hailed as a “Project of Potential National Interest” by the Agàªncia Portuguesa de Investimento (API- Portuguese Agency of Investment), the title recognizes the positive impact the Quinta do Vale Golf Resort will have on the region’s economy as well as a recognition of the good measures taken in regards to the environment and land management.
