Antognolla earns GEO Certified status

4.17pm 14th January 2022 - Course Development

Antognolla Golf in Italy has achieved GEO Certified status and joins an illustrious group of global golf clubs leading the way in sustainable practices.

Being GEO Certified is the highest recognition that golf courses can achieve in terms of sustainability practices it implements. It is a comprehensive modern certification, developed to the highest credibility standard, to help golf facilities, developments and tournaments demonstrate and be recognized for their environmental and social responsibility. The process was extremely thorough but Antognolla Golf managed to tick off all necessary boxes and meet this demanding criteria.

Commenting on the certification on behalf of the owners, Antognolla Golf Director César Burguière said: “Attaining GEO Certified status has been a long, but very rewarding process, which validates our hard work and our commitment to be recognised as one of the sustainability leaders in Italy. This was also a team effort and we couldn’t be more proud of all our associates who were involved in the process”.

Jonathan Smith, founder and Executive Director of GEO Foundation, commented; “Antognolla Golf has worked hard to meet the required certification criteria for sustainable golf operations and has successfully completed the official third-party verification process as well as the final GEO Certification evaluation, so we are pleased to award Antognolla Golf with GEO Certified status.

“Antognolla Golf can now claim a position as a leader in advancing sustainability in golf – making important contributions in fostering nature, conserving resources and strengthening communities”.
