The UK Golf Federation is continuing to see its membership grow during the Covid-19 crisis, with the body that represents and supports the commercial interests of its members’ golf courses and driving ranges right across the UK & Ireland reporting that its ranks have swollen to 800 members.
The key message of the Federation has always been to help growing golf participation through its open access to golf facilities and to support all the key stakeholders in the golf industry in their programmes to get new and return to play golfers interested in the game. This philosophy fits well with members’ visions for the future and is a major reason for the growth of the Federation.
UKGF Chairman and multi-site operator Richard Haygarth commented: “Being relevant to our members is a major factor in the growth in our membership, change is needed in some areas of the golfing marketplace if we are all to continue being financially successful – which is an essential for the future of golf. Our benefits of membership reflect our position in the industry as we look forward to having 1,000 members by the end of 2020.”
Neil Burke, UKGF board member and golf facilities operator, added: “the UKGF provides invaluable support to both my facilities both from the perspective of specific partner support, but also providing access to help on a number of other matters, I urge all golf course and driving range operators to join and participate the UK Golf Federation as the structure becomes increasingly relevant and a much-needed organisation within the golf industry.”
