Members of TGI Golf, Europe’s leading buying group for golf professionals, voted Nike and TaylorMade top in key product awards at the fourth annual TGI Golf Show in Harrogate, 5-6 November.
TGI Golf professionals who attended the two-day golf trade show at the Harrogate International Conference centre voted for the ‘best apparel’ and ‘best hardware’ brands from among all TGI Golf accredited suppliers exhibiting.
Nike won the award for ‘Best Apparel’ range, while TaylorMade was voted ‘Best Hardware’ brand.
Eddie Reid, managing director of TGI Golf, said, “The TGI Golf Show annual awards are highly competitive and our members take into consideration not only the quality of products but the commercial viability for them as retailers aiming to achieve sell-through. Congratulations to Nike and TaylorMade whose apparel and hardware obviously impressed in both categories.”
Andrew Law, sales director for Taylormade, said, “TaylorMade is honoured to receive this accolade, especially as it is voted for by the TGI membership. The strength of our hardware products speaks for itself, but I’d like to congratulate my sales team on presenting the range so professionally, and also TGI Golf for providing the ideal business environment to showcase our products to its quality membership.”
TaylorMade’s newest driver, the r7 CGB Max, alongside the Burner and r7 SuperQuad models drew phenomenal interest from TGI members, contributing to a 47 per cent overall sales increase on day one compared to the 2006 show, according to Gareth Jolly, UK and Ireland sales manager for TaylorMade.
Nike Golf’s apparel range attracted considerable interest, particularly in outerwear, where sales of the men’s Storm-Fit Paclite jacket have benefited from the product winning the waterproofs test of a leading consumer golf magazine.
Mike Francis, general manager Nike Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “The TGI Golf Show is an important event for Nike Golf and we are delighted to be voted ‘Best Apparel Range’ by the TGI membership. This award helps cement our position as an industry leader and gives the Nike Golf brand a solid platform to move forward and create even better apparel using the best technology and materials available.”
