TGI Golf, Europe’s leading buying group for golf professionals, has announced an extensive diary of events giving members the opportunity to compete together, socialise, and share ideas and experiences.
This year TGI Golf has laid on more events than ever before, ranging from overseas golf competitions and monthly retail advice workshops to partner supplier golf days and the TaylorMade-adidas Golf/TGI Amateur Championship.
TGI Golf will be staging an unprecedented 15 golf events for members, including four regional qualifiers for those vying for a spot in the TGI Ashworth Cup team. Parnell Reilly’s team will be bidding to retain the trophy against rival buying group Foremost Golf at The Grove, Hertfordshire, in August.
The Grove is just one of many high quality venues selected for TGI Golf events. In March the Lykia Links Resort, Turkey will host the TGI Golf Overseas Team Challenge in which 42 pros and their amateur teams will do battle beside the Mediterranean coast.
The Lambourne Club will stage the Ashworth Cup South qualifier in June, and Royal County Down will host the TaylorMade-adidas/TGI Golf Amateur Championship in August.
Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Managing Director, said: “These events are critically important to the group. We recognise the importance of bringing together our members, whether it’s through regional meetings, retail advice meetings, golf days or The Golf Show. It is great to network as a group and communicate and share our experiences of the market and best practices to help each other.
“The golf events that we put together year-in, year-out are extremely well supported by our members who all enjoy mixing with each other, TGI staff and personnel from our accredited suppliers.”
As well as golf days the TGI Golf management team has toured the UK in the first two months of the year. They have met with members at regional members meetings, giving them the opportunity to discuss a range of topics with Eddie Reid and his team, and take part in an open forum.
“These annual meetings provide us with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the TGI members and answer any questions they may have,” added Eddie. “We can also demonstrate some of our programs, such as the enewsletter, Online Print System and TGI Direct but most importantly, it allows members to interact with each other.”
Eddie concluded: “TGI Golf has continued to grow year-on-year since its inception in 1984. The group, which is 100% owned by its members, now has a membership of more than 400 across the UK, Ireland and Europe, and we are looking forward to another exciting year in 2011.”
