ProQuip, the leading innovator of lightweight golf weatherwear, has retained its position as the number one selling rain suit brand in the UK, according to the latest sales figures from golf industry analysts Sports Marketing Surveys Ltd.
The Scottish-based weatherwear manufacturer, which this year launched Hydratech, ¬its ‘body-configured’ rain suit with fusion fabric technology for an athletic, fitted look and light-as-air performance, is the number one selling brand in the industry-defining full waterproof suit category
Richard Head, chief designer and managing director of ProQuip, said, “ProQuip’s lightweight, high performance rain suits continue to outperform other existing waterproof technologies. This year, the launch of Hydratech, which fuses the best of ProQuip’s exclusively developed fabric technologies, is set to accelerate sales and further strengthen our market share in the rain suit category.”
The latest SMS figures also show that ProQuip leads the ‘recently purchased full suit’ category – a key business performance indicator accounting for 40.4 per cent of all recent waterproofs purchased – and has a four percent market lead over its nearest rival.
The recently published SMS report also revealed:
• ProQuip has the largest share of the women’s waterproof market
• ProQuip customers are among the most satisfied waterproofs consumers with a rating of 4.66 out of 5
Sales of ProQuip rain suits are expected to increase in 2008 with the launch of Hydratech, the signing of world number eight golfer Jim Furyk as a brand ambassador, and the introduction of an online trade ordering website, which enables retailers to check stock and purchase product 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“As a company, we won’t try and tell retailers when it will rain. Our stocking policy of little and often is flexible and dynamic and designed to help retailers sell through. With the launch of Hydratech, which is expected to be a best-selling suit this year, and refined stocking policies, ProQuip’s market share will only get stronger,” added Richard Head.
