Praise for Hunter Grinders at Royal Lytham

Hunter Grinders provided a week of support in the build-up to The Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.

Field engineer David Mitchison spent a week prior to the tournament grinding all the mowers for course manager Paul Smith, who produced outstanding playing conditions for the championship.

Paul says: “I want to pass on my grateful thanks to Hunter Grinders for supporting the club and The Open. We really did receive a great deal of praise for the course and, in particular, the greens.

“I have nothing but praise for the thoroughly professional approach that David provided. A great deal has changed since the 2001 Open. Without the support from Hunter it would certainly prove most difficult to deliver the exacting standards asked of us today.”

Hunter Grinders, a division of Lloyds of Letchworth and Co, manufacture a range of grinding equipment including the Jupiter and Juno.

Ian Robson, division manager for Hunter Grinders, says: “We are pleased to offer vital tournament support where we can. We are very experienced and have machines at eight of the nine British Open Championship courses. We will be assisting at Muirfield in 2013.”
