PING has opened Europe’s most advanced custom fitting centre at Gainsborough Golf Club in Lincolnshire – Where Tradition meets Technology. The introduction of the new state of the art facility, which offers hi-tech technology coupled with traditional expertise, represents the latest step in PING’s campaign to further strengthen its position as the world’s No. 1 in custom fitting technology.
In the 60‘s, Ping founder Karsten Solheim started to design and manufacture the first PING clubs, and even back then he placed great emphasis on custom fitting. He believed that all golf clubs should be fitted to the golfer rather than the other way round, and from that belief grew the foundation for Ping custom-fitting, still a core company philosophy.
More than 30 years on technology has advanced considerably, enabling PING’s highly trained custom fitters to offer traditional advice in a 21st century setting.
Customers who book an appointment at the new custom fitting centre at Gainsborough Golf Club, a 36-hole complex owned by PING, will be able to spend an hour with their own personal fitter who can make full recommendations for irons, woods and putters.
During that time, the visitor will be:
- Tested in one of three specially designed fitting bays, each complete with a roller shutter door enabling access to the driving range so the fitter can observe the ball flight that is crucial during the fitting process.
- They will also be analysed on the Vector ball flight monitor system, one of the latest systems that measures swing speed, spin rate and launch angle, all vital elements in the fitting process.
- Fitted for one of PING’s wide range of putters on the full-size synthetic practice putting green.
- Shown round the new show room where all PING’s latest irons, woods, putters, bags and accessories are on display.
Alternatively existing PING owners can visit the new fitting room for a ‘fitting check-up‘, and if necessary their clubs can be altered. They will also be given the opportunity to try out the very latest equipment from PING.
