Huxley Golf has announced the appointment of a new distributor in Cyprus to look after sales and installations of the entire Huxley range of golf practice, teaching and playing aids. Trading as Huxley Golf Cyprus, the new company is based near Limassol and is owned and operated by golf course designer and keen golfer, Mike Keay.
Speaking enthusiastically about his appointment, Mike said, “Huxley Golf has proved it’s the real thing by gaining official supplier status from the Professional Golfer’s Association. The PGA has had a long-standing working relationship with Huxley Golf since 1990 and recognises the company as the leader in its field.”
Products available from Huxley Golf Cyprus include the extensive range of Huxley premier all-weather surfaces for golf which provide high quality, low maintenance alternatives to natural turf on golf courses, golf tees, practice tees and ranges, golf greens, indoor and outdoor putting greens, paths, cartways, patios and lawns.
Huxley Golf has installed its products at some of the world’s top golf courses including St Andrews Links, which recently had a large Huxley all-weather practice tee installed at its Golf Practice Centre and Golf Academy. In addition, eight Major Championship winners are among the many tournament professionals who practise at home on Huxley all-weather greens.
The Huxley Golf Cyprus product line-up also includes the range of premier quality Huxley Modular Greens which are supplied in kit form for DIY installation in just about any location and the Huxley Rotanet, a unique fully-retractable golf practice net designed for fast, easy assembly indoors or outside.
Mike Keay, who studied golf course design and construction at Guelph University in Ontario, Canada, is keen to demonstrate the benefits of Huxley Golf’s premier all-weather surfaces to golf course operators, golf enthusiasts and professionals. He explained, “Golf is still a relatively new sport in Cyprus. However, a small number of excellent courses are operating and more are planned.”
Mike is keen also to promote the provision of municipal courses in Cyprus to encourage golf for all. “There is an issue with water shortages on the island and therefore Huxley Golf’s products would be a superb choice for new and existing golf courses, short game academies, par three golf courses and for domestic use. They require little maintenance, no pesticides or chemicals are used and they do not need any water so this makes for an environmentally-friendly solution. But the best bit is that they look and play like real grass.”
A Huxley practice chipping and putting green has been installed already on Cyprus at the Santa Marina Retreat, Pareklissia Village, near Limassol, and can be viewed every day with the exception of Mondays when it is closed to the public.
Huxley Golf’s sales manager, Paul Chester, made it clear that he is delighted to have Mike Keay on board. “Mike’s considerable experience in construction engineering and knowledge of golf course design gives him an ideal background for the Huxley Golf business. We all believe he is a credit to the Huxley brand and we will be providing him with our full support.”
