Textron, manufacturers of E-Z-GO, the world’s premier golf car and ProLink, the leading supplier of information technology to golf managers, have joined forces to launch a course management software system that utilises the latest GPS satellite technology and sets new standards for the golf industry.
Recognised as the industry’s innovator, ProLink’s technology provides a full suite of products to address the challenges of any course manager. ProLink Golfer Services has many features that help golfers improve their game and provide them with a memorable and enjoyable experience on the course. A 25cm (10″) monitor is located in each E-Z-GO golf car and provides a host of information including hole layout, speed of play, pro tips, green features, yardage to the pin and much more.
All this is made possible using ProLink’s Acutrak™ navigation system, which provides unerringly accurate golf car location information, even in areas of undulating terrain and trees. Messages can be sent to the pro shop and food and beverages can be pre-ordered from the clubhouse or halfway house as they negotiate the course.
ProLink ScoreMaster provides the ultimate in scoring for the busy tournament manager and can be customised to turn an ordinary event into a professional operation accommodating golfers of all abilities. During play, golfers enter their scores directly into the onboard monitor in the car. As play progresses all scores are updated in real-time and displayed on a leader board on the car screen and on the pro shop workstation. At the end of the tournament ScoreMaster instantly prints a summary of results, prize breakdown and hole-by-hole results, in addition to printing individual scorecards for each competitor.
ProLink Course Manager helps improve course operations, generate added revenue and make the complete operation more profitable. Each management feature contributes to the efficient operation of the course. These includes car tracking – which enables car locations to be tracked and updated in real-time; course display – which can view the entire course or a group of holes or just a single hole; car information; messaging – which allows course managers to communicate with any car; pin locations; shotgun starts; driving rules – which can be set to reflect current course conditions; food and beverage menu – which allows the customising of snack menus that appear on the in-car monitors and also tracks sales; and report generation which provides speed of play summaries, tournament information and pay for-play reporting.
“We carefully examined the golf course information management systems industry before establishing this partnership with ProLink,” said Glynn Patrick, Textron’s sales director. “What it means for the course manager is that they benefit from the very best in GPS technology coupled with the world’s leading, and innovative, golf car manufacturer. The system will be marketed in Europe through our sales distribution network together with 24/7 maintenance and support. This partnership facilitates the development of fully integrated products, which is ably demonstrated here with the introduction of this state-of-the-art smart golf car.”
