Following the successful introduction of the Forged 735.CM irons in the autumn, Titleist has now unveiled a second set of ‘blended’ irons to complete a strong line up for 2006. The new Titleist Forged 775.CB’s feature multi-material, channel back long irons and cavity back mid and short irons for the aspirational player seeking maximum playability and a high, straight ball flight
The ‘channel’ back long irons (3,4,5) feature a thin face construction that allows mass to be relocated from the face around the perimeter to deliver ‘utility iron’ like performance and playability. The feel, sound and aesthetics of the clubhead have also been enhanced by the vibration dampener in the channel back design while the #3 and #4 irons are longer than standard to increase dynamic loft, clubhead speed and ultimately distance.
The mid-size mid to short irons feature progressive blade heights, blade lengths, offset, sole widths and centre of gravity, offering a fluid transition from mid to short irons and delivering precise performance, playability and control for all types of approach shots.
The Titleist Forged 775.CB irons, as the name suggests, are forged from stainless steel (410) to deliver a soft feel and to offer more custom fit options (length/lie). The iron heads are produced to the very highest quality using a very precise six step forging process delivering very precise head shape, structure and weight tolerances.
John Peal, Titleist’s European marketing director is predicting a successful launch for the 777.CB’s saying, “We are expecting a very positive response from consumers once they hit the market in early 2006. Our designers have incorporated all the hallmarks of a Titleist iron; superior performance, great looks and unmatched quality, into a truly blended set to deliver the appropriate performance benefits for each particular iron in the bag.”
Over 500 Titleist Fitting Works accounts in the UK will have the facility to custom fit the whole range of Titleist irons including the 775.CB’s.
The new Titleist Forged 775.CB irons are available in both right and left hand. The suggested retail prices for the Forged 775.CB are £620 (8 irons 3-P, steel shaft) and £720 (8 irons 3-P, graphite shaft). Ladies flex option also available in graphite.
