John Deere has agreed to sponsor the English Golf Union Golf Club roadshows that are taking place around the country during October and November.
The roadshows are now in their 10th year and provide an opportunity for club secretaries, course managers and other staff to keep up to date with the latest environmental and operational issues facing clubs.
There are six venues this year all of which will offer ecology and agronomy presentations on each golf course as well as in-house presentations on issues including waste and water management, insurance and equipment finance. A key part of each roadshow is also the hands on machinery demonstration, which this year is being provided by John Deere.
The EGU have also secured the chief operating officer of the England Golf Partnership to speak at each of the venues, providing an ideal opportunity for clubs to find out about the £9.2 million grant being received from Sport England over the next four years to boost English golf.
The EGU is a founding member of The England Golf Partnership (EGP) along with the English Ladies Golf Association (ELGA) and the PGA and is supported by the Golf Foundation and Sport England. The Whole Sport Plan for golf identifies how the EGP will achieve its vision of becoming ‘The Leading Golf Nation in the World by 2020’ from grass roots right through to elite level.
Neil Hayward, EGU Assistant Secretary said, “We are delighted that John Deere have agreed to support the EGU roadshows this year. These events always prove to be popular and having such a valued name working with us is an added bonus.”
The first roadshow takes place at Betchworth Park Golf Club, Surrey on 10th October and dates continue through to the 2nd November.
David Hart, commercial & consumer equipment division manager of John Deere, commented, “The EGU roadshows offer us a great opportunity to speak to golf club staff in a friendly environment whilst still allowing us to provide one to one attention where required. We are looking forward to attending all the venues and to meeting existing and new colleagues and customers.”
The roadshows are free of charge to attend and refreshments and lunch are included. To reserve places at one of the events call the EGU Golf Services team on 01526 354500 or email golfservices@englishgolfunion.org.
