JHGD finishes 3 year redevelopment of Wexford Golf Club

12.10am 26th July 2007 - Corporate

Jeff Howes Golf Design has completed its ongoing redevelopment project at Wexford Golf Club, Ireland, which will have its official formal launch in September this year.

The project included the design and construction of 5 new holes on newly acquired land as well as a complete redesign of the existing 18 hole course. The redevelopment work included all greens being converted to USGA sand based greens, the introduction of strategic fairway bunkering, the implementation of a tees renovation programme and a major tree planting operation. Overall, the works have significantly enhanced the playing experience.

JHGD was first engaged in 2002 to prepare a new routing for the club that would take into consideration the shape, contours and natural features of the new and existing lands at Wexford Golf Club. Construction commenced in 2004 and the three phases of the re-development assured the members that there were always 18 holes of golf in play.

“This milestone in the history of our club has been reached following three years of dedicated planning, work and commitment on the part of the Development Committee, Members, Contractors and Jeff Howes Golf Design. No words of mine can adequately express the gratitude and pride felt by all 1,000 members of Wexford Golf Club at this time,” said Nicky Lacey, captain of Wexford GC.
