British golf club software firm intelligentgolf has moved to new premises at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club, after a period of growth.

The company, which is set to announce a series of new business wins over the coming weeks, has completed its move into sizeable new offices in The Woodcote House, adjacent to The Warwickshire’s clubhouse.

Over 150 UK golf clubs have made the switch to intelligentgolf in the last four years. “Golf is in our DNA as a company, and as individuals” says intelligentgolf Managing Director, Jamie Abbott. “We couldn’t be happier with our new base, particularly since The Warwickshire is where intelligentgolf started. We needed more room to expand our growing team, and this was the ideal solution. It does feel like we are coming home.”

Abbott, who worked for IBM in Warwick before becoming an independent IT consultant in 2000, was granted a CONGU handicapping licence in 2006. intelligentgolf grew out of a project he created at The Warwickshire G&CC to create the first web-based golf handicapping system of its kind.

The firm now creates bespokesoftware for all kinds of golf club technology, including membership and subscription management, event management, tee time booking, e-commerce and till systems, and individually-designed desktop and mobile websites including fully-integrated Facebook, Twitter and other social media tools.

Notable among existing intelligentgolf customers are Open Championship venues such as Royal Lytham & St Anne’s; European Tour venues such as The London Club and Forest Of Arden; and other classic venues such as Little Aston, Woodhall Spa and StokePark.

However, the majority of intelligentgolf customers are the member, proprietary and pay-and-play clubs which form the bedrock of the UK golf industry.

The move to The Warwickshire means that the company now also has an on-site training facility, for customers to receive training at the firm’s HQ. “It’s a great environment for learning,” says Abbott. “Some of our customers find it easier to concentrate on learning the system, if they are away from their club.”

“It is great to have such a progressive company operating from one of our clubs” says Simon Jones, Group Operations Manager of The Club Company, which owns The Warwickshire G&CC.“intelligentgolf provides fantastic products, and we are very proud to be associated with them. It is a long-standing relationship, and having them based at one of our clubs certainly cements that.”

“Many of our staff are keen golfers themselves, so it’s a great thing,” said Abbott. “We have these lovely golf courses right in front of us. Morale is important in any business, and I predict a few putting competitions after work when the nights get longer!”
