Huxley Golf is proud to announce its association with the World’s first Nike Performance Fitting Centre at Archerfield Links. The ground-breaking facility was officially launched on 7th July 2014 by Rory McIlroy and features a range of Huxley Golf’s premier all-weather surfaces throughout.
The first of its kind, the new facility enables golfers to experience the very best in golf club, ball, footwear and apparel fitting – the kind of experience usually accessed only by Golf Pros. A coaching team comprising Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart, leading European Tour coach Gary Nicol and PGA Professional Alistair Brown are also on hand to offer a range of tuition opportunities. The aim is to help golfers regardless of ability, experience or handicap to maximize their potential with the ultimate custom-fitting experience using state of the art technologies.
The Nike Performance Fitting Centre features a number of areas to test all aspects of performance. There are three main fitting bays which feature innovative 9ft (2.74m) circular tees. Working with Huxley Golf’s Premier Tee Turf, the circular tees can accept a tee peg anywhere on the surface and it plays exactly like natural grass with superb ball striking characteristics. What’s more the circular design enables the tee to be rotated, breaking up any straight lines to enable the golfer to aim in different directions as well as spreading wear and tear on this already exceptionally durable surface.
There are also four smaller bays which house 4ft11” (1.5m) circular tees using Premier Tee Turf with Huxley Golf Premier Leisure Turf 20 surrounds, an open area measuring 6ft (1.8m) wide x 60ft (18.2m) long featuring Huxley Golf Premier Leisure Turf and a large indoor putting green for technical analysis using Huxley Golf Nylon Indoor Green Turf measuring 12ft (3.6m) x 22ft (6.7m).
Tom Younger, who was responsible for managing the project at Archerfield Links, knew who to go to deliver this exciting new facility. He said: “The project team set the bar very high to meet ours and Nike’s exacting standards to create this new service, which, if successful, could become a template for similar centres around the World. We were absolutely focused on making sure that aesthetics were matched by quality so I pinpointed the reputable suppliers that I wanted to work with to deliver the vision. When it came to the surfaces underfoot, I went straight to Huxley Golf because I knew they would come up with the goods.”
