Golf businesses tune in to web video

12.25am 30th April 2009 - Corporate

Landmark Media International, the specialist golf marketing and PR firm, together with television production specialists Channel 2020 have formed an alliance to offer golf businesses high quality web video services, designed to drive business and build brand awareness.

The latest research shows that watching web-hosted video is now ranked the third most popular activity online after search and retail, and ahead of social networking, according to ComScore. In the UK alone, web users watch 108 videos per month – greater than the USA where consumers watch 77 videos per month.

Gary Firkins, director of Landmark Media International, said, “Online video is a powerful medium and proven marketing tool that our clients are already benefiting from, and which other golf businesses should look to employ.

“High quality video encourages visitors to stay longer on websites and interact with brands in a much deeper way. Research shows that the likelihood of a consumer making a purchase after watching a video is 50% greater than if they simply read text.

“We have been using video on our own website, as well as showcasing our clients’ videos, produced by Channel 2020, and the results are compelling. It is a highly effective marketing communication tool in both the business-to-consumer and business-to-business fields.”

Channel 2020 has a rich heritage of working with premium brands on communications projects, including the BBC, Coca-Cola, Nike, Siemens and Intel. It is also an experienced producer of golf programmes for Sky and has delivered successful golf marketing videos and TV advertising campaigns for numerous golf companies, including Landmark Media clients KPMG Golf Advisory Practice (EMA) and golf course design firm Thomson Perrett & Lobb, plus a soon-to-be-launched golf training aid, Gee-Swing, endorsed by leading golf coach Mark Roe and TV football pundit Alan Hansen.

Rob Potter, CEO of Channel 2020, said, “The success of the BBC’s iPlayer and other web video services underlines the effectiveness of this medium over other web-based marketing tactics, including social networking.

“This marriage of expertise with Landmark Media represents a huge step forward in delivering a distinctive and extremely effective communication tool for the international golf industry and means we can now write, film, produce and then deliver web video and online TV solutions for business-to-business and business-to-consumer golf companies.”
