A group of finance, property and marketing experts have joined forces to create a new unique golf consultancy aimed at advising and managing existing, developing and distressed golf facilities on all aspects of business improvement. G3k Consulting will provide consulting and management services for golf courses, driving ranges, resorts and property developments across the world.
The consulting services include advisory consulting, feasibility studies, design audits, golf course design, property development, event & marketing strategy. G3k Consulting also offers management of facilities and turnaround strategies relating to facility development, technical service, full management, golf course consulting, operational audits and agronomic assessments.
Based in Scotland but with offices in America, Canada and the Caribbean, the consulting group is led by Chief Executive Stewart Smith, a Master PGA Professional and former European Tour player who has significant experience in the golf industry having held Senior/Director of Golf roles in exclusive private member resorts. He also developed and sold a golf retail offering, coached in Scandinavia, USA and the United Kingdom and was the lead for Scottish Golf Tourism, the tourism body which aims to make the most of Scotland’s world class golf facilities.
G3k Consulting also includes a pool of top advisers from financial, marketing, operation and design backgrounds.
Finance Director John Stirling is a senior accountant with unique global experience having co-established KPMG’s practice in The Caribbean. Marketing and branding experts Iain Stirling and Audrey Ramsay have significant experience in leisure, service and events industries, and will provide strategic and creative guidance.
Stewart commented: “On the back of the global recession, the high-end golf industry has suffered and we are seeing many golf clubs closing or requiring a buy-out. In the past, golf lovers with the cash could buy a golf resort and run it as a lifestyle business. However, like most luxury products and services, only the best will survive and customers want top service for the money they pay.
“As well as our core team, we work with a pool of senior advisers to ensure our clients receive the most up to date advice on capital expenditure, budgeting, cash-flow, planning, policy, archaeology and ecological surveys.”
In the past, the team involved with G3k Consulting have worked with a variety of developments including The Renaissance in East Lothian, Carrick on Loch Lomond, Angus Golf Resort and Spa and the Elea resort in Cyprus.
