Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster has announced that BRS Golf Limited, an international golf course technology solutions provider and tee times distribution company, is expanding in Belfast, creating 28 new jobs over the next three years.

This investment follows the acquisition of BRS Golf by GolfNow LLC, an affiliate of the Florida-based multimedia, golf entertainment and services company Golf Channel, which is owned by NBCUniversal.

BRS Golf provides cloud-based tee time distribution management and online booking systems to golf club operators, predominantly in the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the US. BRS Golf currently has 27 staff, having nearly doubled from 14 people over the last 15 months.

The Minister made the announcement as she officially opened the company’s new 315 sq. metre offices in Belfast’s Centrepoint building. Arlene Foster said: “BRS Golf’s decision to expand its workforce and invest in new premises in Northern Ireland is fantastic news and testament to Northern Ireland’s standing as an excellent location in which to do business.

“Invest NI has worked with GolfNow and its US parent NBCUniversal for more than a year to encourage BRS Golf to locate its expansion in Belfast. This investment will help BRS Golf expand its international footprint through its commitment to aiding golf clubs around the world to more effectively operate their businesses.

“The 28 new jobs will generate annual salaries of almost £800,000 and offer a broad range of opportunities in IT, customer support, sales, training and finance. They will appeal to those entering the world of work for the first time, as well as those with more industry experience wishing to avail of career development opportunities.”

Invest Northern Ireland has offered BRS Golf £154,000 of support for the 28 new jobs, 4 of which are already in place.

Mike McCarley, president of Golf Channel, said: “NBCUniversal is a global business, and in addition to Golf Channel/GolfNow’s headquarters in Orlando, Fla., Belfast will provide BRS Golf with a great opportunity to continue to grow and further develop our best-in-class technology for golf clubs around the world due to the region’s cost-competitive infrastructure and pro-business environment.

“Invest NI’s support has played a valuable role in the growth of BRS Golf and GolfNow to date. This expansion, backed by the full support of our NBCUniversal resources will not only enable us to continue to provide industry-leading support to golf club operators, it also will make it easier for more golfers to go play.”

Invest NI has offered BRS Golf £154,000 towards the creation of 28 new jobs.

In April 2013, BRS was purchased by GolfNow LLC, an affiliate of Golf Channel, a multimedia, golf entertainment and services company based in Orlando, Florida. Golf Channel is owned by NBCUniversal, and the ultimate parent is Comcast Corporation LLC, the largest media services company in the US.
