FootJoy broadens outerwear appeal

3.05pm 7th February 2006 - Corporate

The FootJoy® Outerwear range has an established reputation for producing garments that demonstrate the company’s superior knowledge of waterproof technology, comfort maximisation and design. The FootJoy® Outerwear Collection has been expanded for 2006 to create two distinct product lines, the FootJoy Performance Line and the new FootJoy ‘Red Label’ Collection.
The FootJoy Red Label Collection features younger, more fashion orientated designs with an unmistakable Continental cut. The Red Label Collection rain trousers, for example, take their influence from contemporary jean design featuring a straight leg cut, zip fly and belt loops. The detail in the design is clear with clean hem finishes, offered in 3 leg lengths, and a tailored waistband. The jackets and shirts also take their influence from fashion and function by using slimmer patterns and shorter body lengths than in previous FootJoy Outerwear ranges to offer a stylish fit and prevent interference from excess material gathering in the midriff area.
Performance is still paramount to the Red Label Collection. A high tech Sta-Dry Stretch™ material is used across the rainwear garments in the line, which is an advanced stretch fabric that offers waterproof protection and easy movement in the swing. New technologically advanced fabrics are also used in the outerwear garments including a new ultra light high density fabric in the windshirt range, and ProDry™, a material exclusive to FootJoy, that wicks away moisture from the body and provides UV protection. This material is used in both the short and long sleeve Red Label Collection golf mocks.
Additional design aspects intended to improve golfers’ enjoyment and performance include the arm/cuff design. Every garment in the rainwear range has an over-sleeve design with waterproof fabric inner cuffs. The elasticated cuffs create a tight seal against the skin, whilst the over-sleeve design allows the external Sta-Dry Stretch material to move in response to the golfers’ swing without affecting the cuffs.
Other features designed specifically for usability on the course include a protected inner chest pocket for scorecards, stand up storm collars, and an adjustable waist band with tethered draw string, which prevents the rain shirts from catching and offers a more contemporary fit. Aesthetics are further improved with detail such as contrast accent piping and the multiple use of a distinct Red Label Collection branded rubber badge throughout the range, which comprises:

The FootJoy Red Label Collection is destined to make a big impact this year. Its combination of waterproofing, comfort, freedom of movement and tailored, sleek, stylish cut allows fashion conscious golfers to perform and look at their best in extreme weather conditions.
