Direct Golf UK wins legal battle

Direct Golf UK has won a conclusive settlement in its case against American Golf Discount

Direct Golf UK has successfully reached a final and conclusive legal settlement that closes the lid on a three year dispute with the Warrington based retailer American Golf Discount (AGD).
Direct Golf UK successfully sued for damages after it learned that its name and trading reputation was subject to ‘disparaging comments‘ made to customers by AGD staff.
The agreement consists of an undisclosed out of court financial settlement and a consent order that instructs that further defamation of the Direct Golf UK name will not be tolerated.
John Andrew, Direct Golf UK’s managing director, commented, Whilst initially I was reluctant to take legal action I simply had no alternative. We have worked very hard to build our reputation by offering customers top brands, at industry leading prices supported by excellent service, a vision recently endorsed when the ‘Today’s Golfer‘ Industry awards voted Direct Golf UK ‘Best Mail Order Retailer 2004‘. I fully support fair competitive trading and am very much looking forward to focussing all our future efforts on further developing our retail business.”
