Cobra, the pioneer of utility clubs for more than a quarter of a century, is enjoying great success in this growing category with its Baffler range. Continuing on the traditions of Cobra Golf’s earlier Bafflers, the DWS provides golfers of all skill levels a versatile and forgiving utility club offering a higher trajectory, longer distances and greater accuracy, with the Baffler Pro catering to the lower handicap golfer.
The latest independent survey carried out by Golf DataTech¹ looks at both unit and monetary sales at both on and off course golf retail outlets. In the Utility club category the Cobra Baffler registered a unit market share of 10.5% and was the only model to register a double digit market share. In addition in terms of sales income the Cobra Baffler again topped the charts with an 11.2% market share.
Sales for the Baffler have soared this season with the year-to-date sales up an impressive 44% on the same period last year. Cobra’s European marketing manager Ian Barrett is delighted with the Baffler’s leading market share position and strong sales growth. “The Baffler’s success comes down quite simply to performance. We knew we had a great product during testing but the feedback from golfers and subsequent sales we experienced at our early season Demo Blitz events underlined just how easy to hit the Baffler is. We are extremely pleased to be the number one in this very competitive market as it is ensures that Cobra’s long heritage and undoubted reputation as a leader in this category continues.”
Cobra’s Baffler delivers the high launch, distance and forgiveness of a fairway metal and the control and playability of an iron. The DWS system lowers the centre of gravity and increases the moment-of-inertia for even more stability, power and accuracy. The Baffler also features a larger, hotter face generating the Hotter 9 points on the clubface creating greater face flex and longer straighter shots. Alongside the sculpted sole, these features enable the Baffler to be used from any lie with optimum results.
