Cleveland Golf fights counterfeiting

8.20am 11th February 2008 - Corporate

In an effort to combat the ever-increasing problems associated with counterfeit golf equipment, Cleveland Golf has introduced their new “Authenticity Cleveland Golf Product” label, which will be included on many of Cleveland Golf’s new products introduced to market.

“Golf club manufacturers are dealing with an onslaught of counterfeit products in the market today.” said Steve Gingrich, vice-president of global security. “These inferior products deliver substandard performance and expose unsuspecting consumers to potentially hazardous situations. In addition, counterfeit equipment costs golf companies millions of dollars in damaged reputations, as consumers of counterfeit goods blame the companies when a product turns out to be defective.”

This “Authenticity Cleveland Golf Product” label, which will be located on the shaft near the clubhead, will come complete with an “Authenticity Decoder Lens”. Authenticity of the product can be confirmed by waving and rotating the “Authenticity Decoder Lens” over the authenticity label, which will reveal a positive to negative CG logo wallpaper.

This visible “CG” wallpaper will help consumers confirm that the products they have purchased are “Authentic Cleveland Golf Products” while also helping manufacturers in the ongoing fight against counterfeit products in the market place.
