CleanStrike storms into American Golf stores nationwide

The deal will see the UK’s largest specialist golf retailer as the exclusive national British sports retailer to sell CleanStrike.

American Golf, the UK’s largest specialist golf retailer, has reached an agreement with Dublin-based CleanStrike Sporting Products to stock the extraordinary golf club cleaning wipes throughout its 70 stores in Britain and Ireland (now open in Dublin as well).

In a deal that will see American Golf as the exclusive national British sports retailer to sell CleanStrike, the club wipes are the first of several of the Irish company’s products that will bring customers into American Golf as their specialist retailer of choice.

American Golf buyer David Wright is known for spotting market leaders before they’re even off the mark. And he’s also adept at squashing bad rumours…

“We hear anecdotally that golf retail in the UK is quiet, however we’re having an excellent year and we’re well into the Christmas rush with our recently-launched ‘PriceBusters’ and ‘Christmas 2007’ promotions,” he said.

“We have high hopes for the CleanStrike Club Cleaner and also the CleanStrike Shoe & Golf Bag cleaner as they appeal to the keen golfer, who will quickly appreciate the benefits of having clean clubs shot-after-shot.

“The CleanStrike idea is so great because it’s a volume selling, repeat-purchase item. I happen to have used it myself and the fact that it actually does what it says on the tin is a hugely important, because people will buy it again. It just reinforces American Golf’s position as the authentic golf retailer of choice in the UK”.

Clean Strike is a cleaning wipe, impregnated with a specially developed inert formula that simply cleans golf clubs. It gets soil and grass out of grooves on the club face, cleans along the length of the shaft and absorbs grit out of grips – all with just a wipe.

CleanStrike originally envisaged it being most popular with the higher handicappers because they would see a more marked improvement more quickly. Surprisingly, however, initial take-up has showed that lower handicappers have bought into the idea with just as much enthusiasm.

This was due to the fact that they needed less convincing of the sense of having quickly and properly cleaned clubs. Ultimately, it has netted a wider acceptance than CleanStrike had initially anticipated.
