The venture has seen an investment in excess of €200,000 which includes support fromEnterpriseIreland and FailteIreland. The site offers a one stop shop for golfers wanting to plan, price and book golf holidays directly online, in different destinations. Golfers can not only view tee times and hotel inventory but book them directly at the most competitive rates, with immediate confirmation, day or night. The site is powered by Golf Channel Solutions’ GolfNow technology along with a number of aggregators to provide a selection of over 3,500 golf courses and 10,000 hotels. The site also enables customers to book car hire, flights, travel insurance and research the details of the trip, benefiting from 20 years of experience from one of the world’s top golf travel companies, Carr Golf Travel.
The company has launched with three destinations – Ireland, USA and more recentlyScotland, but intends to expand the destinations to England, Spain and Portugal in 2012.
The site is managed from Carr Golf’s Dublin HQ by John Maher who joined the company in late 2009 where he was head of online marketing at Boyle Sports and previously O2 UK. “Given the size of the golf travel market globally and the number of golf holidays planned and transacted online, Online Golf Travel is ideally positioned to be a market leader”.
