British golf clubs not ‘business minded’, say US marketing experts

Golf Marketing Commander, which opened an office in Manchester last year, has gained five UK partners to add to its 250 partners worldwide.

Golf Marketing Commander, based in Lecanto, Florida and a leader in golf marketing, opened a UK office in Manchester in November 2007.

Kevin Kean, marketing success specialist for Marketing Commander in the UK, told Golf Business News.com, “We are the world leader in online golf marketing, with over 250 partners worldwide. Since the opening of our office here in the UK we have continued to build on this success with the acquisition of five more partners, two of which have come on board in the last week.

“They include; Loch Ness GC, St Andrews Golf Tours, Stonelees Golf Centre, The Kendleshire and our most recent partner, Woodlands Manor GC.

“We help golf clubs generate more revenue through numerous channels, mainly member recruitment and retention; generating new leads for corporate golf; weddings and conferences; including the provision of software that can help clubs track all of their advertising.

“We have been speaking with many clubs over the past few months in order to find out what is unique to them and what their biggest marketing challenges are so that we can tailor what we do to their club.”

“We genuinely believe there isn’t a club out there that we can’t help in some way,” continued Kevin. “The biggest obstacle we have overcome is that most British clubs are not proactive enough and are not business minded. By educating them on the benefits of some of the principles we introduce to our partners, we feel we can slowly change this attitude and help them in the areas mentioned above.
