Turf growers in Turkey have taken delivery of three BLEC Global machines following a trip to the company’s Peterborough headquarters.
FBK, with 250 acres (104 hectares) of turf-growing land near Ankara, purchased a Blecavator, a BLEC Turfmaker Seeder and a BLEC laser grader.
BLEC’s chief demonstrator Tom Shinkins travelled out to the farm with the three machines to give the team instruction in their use.
The laser grader is to be used on preparing sub bases for both artificial surfaces and natural soil-based pitches.
FBK is the first farm in Turkey to grow turf specifically for sports turf applications. Other farms grow turf for landscaping.
Company owner is Mr Fevzi Kuvvetli and his daughters Tugba and Betul run the farm. Tugba is the turf farm manager and Betul is sportsturf contracts manager.
“We had a visit to our factory from FBK executives,” says Tom, “and they made their decision following a demonstration of the equipment. They are a very forward-thinking company and wanted the very latest machines to make their operation as efficient as possible.”
BLEC Global managing director Gary Mumby said: “Exports make up around seventy per cent of our business so this is a very important order and makes our demonstration trips abroad very worthwhile.”
