Barenbrug maintains growth

The company is to establish new breeding programmes and trial sites in Northern Ireland

Following a highly successful year 2000, Barenbrug UK, the specialist sport and amenity grass seed breeder is literally breaking new ground as the 2001 growing season approaches.

The company is making a substantial investment to establish new breeding programmes and trial sites in Northern Ireland to assess the performance of mixtures and stand-alone grass varieties for this important market. Factors including shade tolerance and resistance to wear and disease will be evaluated to show suitability for use by groundsmen, greenkeepers and other turf professionals.

“These latest trials demonstrate once again Barenbrug’s commitment to ensure market requirements are met entirely,” said Ben Petitjean, Barenbrug UK’s sales manager. “We can fine-tune mixtures, for example, to match local conditions.”
