SGM Contracts, one of the largest dealers of groundcare equipment in Europe, has been recognised in its local business community for its achievements in marketing and sales.

The company, which is head-quartered in Inverkeithing, Scotland, has won the Award for Success through Sales and Marketing at Fife Business Awards, sponsored by Fife Chamber of Commerce.

SGM was recognised for their innovative marketing strategy focused on developing the business’s retail function and online sales strategy in order to adapt to changing markets.

SGM Contracts supply a wide range of professional grass cutting and grounds maintenance machinery for sale and for hire, as well as providing machinery servicing and spare parts. Their core customer base includes local authorities, contractors, golf courses and sports facilities; however, in the past two years they have expanded their range to cater for a much wider market including arboriculture professionals and domestic home gardeners who value their specialist knowledge.

The company’s Managing Director, Steven McInroy, believes that SGM’s ability to continue to meet the demands of  its core markets whilst adapting to new markets has been significant to their continued success: “SGM has several depots in both Scotland and England and continues to supply professional machinery across the UK and Europe. In recent months, however, we have also worked hard to develop our local coverage in Central Scotland where we believe the retail side of our business has huge potential for growth. It is, therefore, a great honour for us to be recognised within that local community for our efforts and achievements at this time.”
