Asbri join forces with Glenmuir

Official licensees for The 2010 Ryder Cup, Asbri Golf, have agreed a distribution deal with leading golf clothing company Glenmuir.

Paul Williams, sales & marketing director of Asbri explained, “Our agreement with Glenmuir is to service the non-golf trade within Wales. We see some great opportunities to supply both high street retailers, corporate and promotions customers, and are really looking forward to working with Glenmuir. With clothing from Europe’s leading golf apparel brand in our portfolio, along with our own range of Official Ryder Cup merchandise, we can now offer our customers the ultimate Ryder Cup Collection of clothing and accessories.”

Also a Ryder Cup Official Licensee, Glenmuir is the preferred supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team, and has designed outfits for successive European Teams right back to Muirfield Village in 1987. It runs a hugely successful official merchandise programme alongside its market-leading cresting service for golf clubs and corporate clients.

Andy Bough, marketing director of Glenmuir commented, “Asbri Golf is a fantastic success story and shows what an impact The Ryder Cup can make on a small company. Their achievements to date are remarkable and we are excited about the opportunity to work with such a dynamic Welsh company in the run-up to next year’s Ryder Cup. We see them as an ideal distribution partner for us in Wales.”

The launch of Asbri Golf in 2004 was purely down to the success of its sister company, Asbri Design Ltd. Asbri Design, still continues to expand with new design offices opening shortly in central London. Having secured many product design solutions over the past 10 years, including Puma’s statement soccer boot for the 2006 World Cup, the funding was provided to launch Asbri Golf with the focus of creating a Welsh golf brand. Now, five years on, Asbri golf supplies over 350 professional shops across the UK and exports to over 20 distributor companies worldwide.

Rob Holt, chief executive of Ryder Cup Wales, said, “It is great to see Welsh businesses, such as Asbri, using the effects of The Ryder Cup coming to Wales in 2010 to help facilitate growth. Joining forces with the likes of Glenmuir, one of the market leaders in golf wear, will benefit both companies.”
