Abacus Sportswear, the Official Clothing Supplier to The European Tour and Licensee to The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, has appointed BBB Consulting as its new distributor in Switzerland.

The company, headed by Bettina Bloesch, has many years’ experience in the golf industry, having supported brands like Bunker Mentality and Ian Poulter’s apparel range, IJP Design.

Bloesch has also represented outerwear brands Quicksilver and Roxy for seven years and worked for the Swiss watchmaker SWATCH GROUP for over five years, where she was responsible for Hamilton and RADO Watches in Asia and Europe.

Commenting on her appointment, Bettina said: “I have worked closely with abacus® in Switzerland before and have therefore been exposed to the brand’s industry-leading technical fabrics and products.

“Swedish influences are very apparent across the range and the requirements from Swiss golfers are quite similar, as both countries experience challenging winter conditions that require warm, waterproof, and highly technical garments.”

As a result of these similar market needs, Bloesch will work alongside Bengt-Olof Moberg, Abacus Sportswear’s Area Manager.

Bengt-Olof commented: “Abacus has been present in the Swiss market for some time but with Bettina’s sound knowledge of the Swiss golf industry, and her skilled and determined approach, we believe we can strongly grow the brand in Switzerland, an important territory for us.

“We also believe technical fabrics, sophisticated patterns and attractive colours – all features of Abacus apparel – will appeal to an emerging Swiss market, which is slowly seeing golf become a more public, inclusive sport.”
