Bovey Castle Golf and Leisure Club is teeing off the 2025 season with a new golf shop and members’ area following a £160,000 investment at the five-star, Dartmoor-based resort.
Part of the Bovey Castle Hotel, the golf club has unveiled the new area, which will complement the hotel’s 18-hole course. The project comprises a new shop featuring premium golf brand partners such as Titleist, Peter Millar, Cobra and Puma.
Thanks to the investment, the adjoining members’ area also now features additional seating, a trophy display, a digital leaderboard and outdoor seating area.
It follows hot on the heels of a recent £40,000 all-weather heated driving range, with the hotel’s golf membership having grown by 66 per cent year-on-year under the stewardship of Golf Manager Rob Selley.

Selley said: “This latest investment is about driving towards our aim of creating an authentic golf club experience for all ages and abilities at Bovey Castle. Our championship golf course and five-star hotel facilities, combined with coaching from PGA Professionals, has really helped to grow our membership in recent years, and this latest investment has a crucial role to play in appealing to both golfing purists and the next generation.
“We’ve also recently given our golf club a name – Bovey Castle Golf and Leisure Club – to reflect that we are not just a top-class facility, but a recognised golf club too – and this gives us a solid platform to build on in the future to get as many people as possible from all ages and backgrounds playing the sport.”
To mark the opening of the new shop and members’ area, Bovey Castle is launching its first series of three-day golf tuition breaks on 3 June, 1 July and 9 September. Each break will see personalised instruction around swing technique, pitching and putting, before concluding with an 18-hole round – combined with a two-night stay at Bovey Castle, including breakfast and dinner.
Bovey Castle’s ‘Get into Golf’ Academy for under-16s will also be running two-hour coaching sessions for junior locals and hotel guests every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the school holidays.

Dean Gunston, General Manager at Bovey Castle, added: “We are seeing more couples and families taking in a round of golf on the hallowed Dartmoor turf when they are staying with us alongside groups of friends – which has played a big part in our growth. The recent investment reflects a really exciting time for Bovey Castle Golf and Leisure Club as we gear up for another bumper summer for the wider Bovey Castle resort.”
Owned by The Eden Hotel Collection, Bovey Castle’s accommodation offering comprises 60 bedrooms and 22 self-catering country lodges.
