The Woll Golf Course at New Woll Estate in the Scottish Borders has been making a name for itself over the last few years with the grand redevelopment of its already popular 18 hole golf course and the owners, The Brown family, are making another large investment for the future of the course by developing more of the greens and their surrounds this winter. The whole project will mean the course is still playable in the winter and complete and ready for the new season.
Company director Nicholas Brown says, “As a family run business we are one of the only golf courses moving forward in these tough times We are always trying to improve the course and this development is part of a longer term plan to become the best and most popular course in the Scottish Borders.”
The development sees the redesign and reshaping of a number of holes and although Nicholas is remaining tight lipped about the full extent this winter soon all the greens will have been redesigned.
It is apparent that the success of the previous years’ development have had benefits to the Course with increased membership and visitor numbers which have helped with the continued development program. The development team will be working hard over the winter to ensure the course is in perfect
“We have a very experienced and well qualified team headed up by Shane Ringwood construction with Shane himself the international shaper and our own head greenkeeper Tommy Yeomans,” said Nicholas. “Work is already underway and the results are likely to see the course attract more members and in time larger and more prestigious competitions.”
New Woll Estate comprises a golf course, restaurant and 4 star self-catering resort – ‘a place where friends and family make memories.’
