Following a period of rapid growth into new market sectors, Datateam felt the time was right to re-house Sporting Goods Business (SGB), SGB Golf and SGB Outdoor with an up and coming B2B publisher. According to media director Paul Ryder, Silverback “fitted the bill perfectly” and he is looking forward to supporting the team there throughout the transition period.
As an established publisher of specialist car and music magazines in the consumer sector, this is Silverback’s first foray into B2B media, but directors Tom Saunders and Andrew Crispin say they are “more than ready for the challenge”.
Commenting on the move, Tom says: “The SGB brand is very strong with a lot of history. It suits what we are trying to achieve as a publisher; giving us a foot in both the B2B and B2C worlds. As such, it will really complement our business. ”
“While our consumer background will undoubtedly give us a different perspective,” says Tom, “readers and advertisers can rest assured that it’s ‘business as usual’. Not only do we have Paul’s support throughout the moving stage (his knowledge is invaluable!), we fully intend for the existing editorial and sales teams to remain in place. I am very much looking forward to meeting members of the industry in January at the PGA event, Orlando.”
Paul concludes: “Silverback is a fantastic publishing house and I am looking forward to seeing the magazines go from strength to strength in their new home.”
SGB Golf is one of Europe’s leading golf trade magazines and has a reputation amongst retailers, manufacturers and distributors as being topical, informative and an invaluable all-round business tool. It was launched in 2001 by Datateam Business Media.
Issues dates for Sporting Goods Business, SGB Golf and SGB Outdoor will be announced shortly.
