Heythrop Park Resort recently hosted its first European Challenge Tour event, the Bridgestone Challenge, on its 7,088 yard Bainbridge Course. It is the Tour’s only 2016 event in England.

Until October 31st 2016 the resort’s ‘Tour Experience’ promotion gives visitors a reduced-rate green fee of just £35 per person for a round of golf on any day of the week, including weekends.

With over 365 bedrooms Heythrop Park Resort is one of the UK’s largest golf destinations, and visiting golfers looking for an overnight stay in September and October will pay a heavily-reduced rate of just £129 per person for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and 18 holes.

Golfers simply need to quote ‘TOUR EXPERIENCE’ when they contact the resort (01608 673333) to make their booking.

“We wanted to offer all visiting golfers a great price and the opportunity to enjoy the golf course following the debut Tour golf event” said Paul Russell, Resort Director at Heythrop Park Resort.

“Successfully hosting the Bridgestone Challenge tournament on the European Challenge Tour was a milestone moment both for the Bainbridge golf course and the whole resort, and our course management team is now dedicated to maintaining that proven Tour quality, week in, week out, for all golfers going forwards.”

Belgium’s Thomas Detry won the Bridgestone Challenge (August 25th – 28th) by 12 shots, after setting a new Bainbridge Course record of 60 in the first round. Three subsequent scores in the sixties including a final-round 63 secured an emphatic maiden Tour victory for the 23 year-old, propelling him into the top 15 in the annual Road To Oman Challenge Tour rankings.

“The Bainbridge is a great tournament layout and was immaculately prepared for the Bridgestone Challenge” said Jeremy Robinson, Director of event promoters BlackStar Golf. “We had a good example of how Tour-prepared it was in Round Three, when an extraordinarily heavy storm passed over and halted play. Remarkably, the greens had self-drained and were ready for play again within only a few minutes. They have been built to a very high standard, and coped spectacularly well.

“The staff at the resort were fantastic, and the food at the inaugural dinner was first class. Heythrop Park Resort was a high-quality venue for our event.”

European Challenge Tour Director Alain De Soultrait said: “We would like to thank our sponsor Bridgestone Tyres for hosting a memorable event where we saw a remarkable performance from Thomas Detry who set a new European Challenge Tour record for the largest winning margin in a tournament. Heythrop Park Resort provided a nice layout with a great environment for our players.”

“It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the atmosphere of a bona-fide Tour golf event, and the fun attractions which Bridgestone kindly staged for visitors also proved popular” said Paul Russell. “Our thanks go to Bridgestone, BlackStar Golf and the European Challenge Tour for helping us to stage the tournament here at Heythrop Park Resort.

“I must also give special thanks to Matt Cropper and his excellent Estate Management team for their fantastic support, and also to all of our volunteers and members who helped with stewarding and ensured that the event ran smoothly. It was a big team effort involving many hours of hard work, but the end product was a first class golf tournament.”

Heythrop Park Resort is high-quality, high-capacity hotel destination within an hour of London, in a spectacular 500-acre quintessentially English parkland setting, close to the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace and the shopping at Bicester Village. Extensive banqueting and conferencing facilities include a striking, state-of-the-art, 400-delegate lecture theatre. In addition to luxurious Spa and swimming facilities, Heythrop Park Resort also contains surprising and memorably unique features such as decorative walled gardens, a plunge pool, a hidden and historic ‘Whale Cave’, and for the more modern-minded there is a popular FootGolf course for all the family to enjoy.

And although the spectacular Bainbridge Course is the headline-making attraction for golfers, John Cook and his team of PGA golf instructors also make Heythrop Park Resort the ideal place for golfers to learn the sport, from beginner level up to elite or even Tour standard.

“There really has never been a better time for golfers to visit Heythrop Park Resort,” said Russell. “For the final two months of the season we can offer Tour-quality golf at reduced prices – which we hope will prove to be an unbeatable prospect for golfers from all parts of the UK.”
