Clubs across Scotland are encouraging more young people and beginner adults into the game thanks to a generous donation of golf equipment.
Factory Eleven has worked with Scottish Golf for a number of years with the supply of equipment and on the delivery of activity on site at events, such as the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup at Blairgowrie and the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open. Working in tandem with one of their business sponsors, they are now donating GolfParc equipment to nine clubs across the country.
The clubs have been selected in areas where there is commendable work being undertaken by PGA Pros and volunteers to link with schools and the community.
They include Linn Park in Glasgow, the west coast links of Machrihanish, Montrose Golf Links in the east and Perthshire venue Muckhart. Lothians course Niddry Castle, Newton Stewart in the south, and the northern trio of Stromness, Thurso and Torphins are also benefiting.
The GolfParc ‘Golf Hole’ is designed and manufactured in the UK by Factory Eleven to create a portable golf facility that creates a fun-based learning environment to practise and play all the key elements of the sport for young people and families.
Peter Gray, Factory Eleven owner, who has been delivering the equipment to clubs himself on his very own road trip, said: “On the back of the Junior Ryder Cup and the development ambition at Scottish Golf, we felt it was a good opportunity to utilise the extra donations of equipment within clubs in Scotland to build on the legacy projects we had already been involved in.
“We’ve worked for a number of years with ClubGolf, the national junior programme, at various levels and we felt it made real sense to do this. There has already been extremely positive feedback on the use of the kit by both young people and beginner adults.
“The equipment is portable so the clubs have a great opportunity to truly engage a golf experience in education, community centres and recreational parks. It’s taking golf to where the potential new participants are. It’s been great to visit the clubs and talk to the people who will be utilising the equipment and, ultimately, we’d like to think we are offering continued rewards to clubs given their efforts in growing the game.”
