American Golf is proud to unveil a new project designed to support the objectives of its designated charity, On Course Foundation. At this year’s American Golf Grand Final weekend, every company involved in delivering the event will be taking on one or more On Course Foundation members. This campaign is set to be the biggest one off work experience campaign that the charity has ever embarked on.
American Golf has been working in partnership with On Course Foundation since 2014. As well as using golf as a means to rehabilitate its members, the charity seeks out employment opportunities for its members within the golf industry. American Golf works closely with the charity to identify suitable openings in its stores and also takes the Tour Truck to OCF’s regional recruitment events.
American Golf’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Daniel Gathercole, hopes that this campaign will draw attention to the charity and show how easy it is to get behind them, “We are proud to be able to put campaigns like this together and hope that we can encourage more companies to work with On Course Foundation members. They are passionate about golf and have an incredible work ethic.”
The vacancies at The Grand Final include PR roles with Medi8, production support roles with SGTV and Visions in Golf, events positions with NGL Golf as well as roles in the American Golf Tour Truck. On Course Foundation’s Regional Employment & Events Manager, Mark Schorah, has received a great deal of interest in the roles available, “Although many of their skills are transferable, the stumbling block for many of our members when they apply for jobs is a lack of civilian specific work experience. The companies we’re working with here will make a genuine difference to these members’ job prospects.”
Flight Sergeant RAF Medic, Emma Morton, is one of the On Course Foundation Members participating in the campaign. She has been inspired by American Golf’s commitment to the charity and to golf, ““In my opinion, American Golf are ambassadors in revolutionising the Golf Industry, ensuring it’s universally available to anyone, without prejudice or expense. Their commitment to inspiring individuals, including OCF members, and breaking down pre-conceived misconceptions of the game attracts unlikely raw new talent to UK clubs, enhancing not only the game, but providing a great social opportunity amongst an ever-growing insular society.”
The Grand Final Weekend takes place at The Belfry over the weekend of 9th/10th September. During the weekend competitors will battle it out for the 2016 Ladies, Seniors and 9 Hole Championship titles.
